The kangling, or (human) thighbone flute, is a Tibetan tantric ritual trumpet used in the practice of Chöd.
Wrathful deities are said to be delighted by the haunting sound of the instrument, while malicious spirits are enticed yet thereby divested of their mischievous influence. Due to current challenges with procuring and shipping authentic bone trumphets, many people have switched to high quality wood or resin. This is wood from the Acacia (Sengdeng) tree the same as the Chöd Drum. They resemble the traditional human thighbone trumpets, and produce an impressive sound.
Each kangling comes in a protective brocade case. Colors may vary.
